This video was created for Brine Lacrosse for the release of the new RP3 II lacrosse head. Brine designed the new head with Major League Lacrosse all-star, Rob Pannell. The RP3 II is designed for offensive players like Rob, and introduces several new technology features which improve consistency and durability. I was hired by Brine to showcase the new head.
"A Masterpiece Revealed" is a 5-chapter documentary that tells the fascinating story of a 17th century painting re-discovered at Meadow Brook Hall and conserved by the Detroit Institute of Arts. Over the course of six months, I documented the progress of the painting through a behind-the-scenes look at the DIA's conservation labs.
The documentary begins with a history of Bartolomé Esteban Murillo's "The Infant Saint John the Baptist in the Wilderness" from its creation in Seville, Spain to its eventual home at Meadow Brook Hall in the 1920s. The re-discovery ignited a partnership between Oakland University and the DIA, allowing students to observe the scientific research and conservation. The painting will be on display for five years in the DIA's European Medieval to Renaissance Art gallery before returning to Meadow Brook Hall.
When Trevor Sullivan was 14 years old he was diagnosed with a heart disease called cardiomyopathy. After 3 months on a heart transplant list, a donor heart became available to Trevor. Trevor's story became famous when his family posted a video right when he woke up from his surgery. Trevor is now back in school and living a normal life as a heart transplant patient and survivor.
I was hired by the American Heart Association to tell Trevor's story. The video was shown at their Detroit Heart Ball event to raise donations for research and to help improve the quality of life for people like Trevor and his family.
Every year, DTE Energy recognizes employees for their contributions to the Metro Detroit community. 2015's recipients included 4 cable splicers who saved a man's life while they were on the job in a Detroit Alley. I was contracted by DTE Energy to shoot and edit this video with the 4 employees as they told the story of the day. I spent a morning at the Trombley Service Center garage as the team was preparing for the day.
This video was created for the American Heart Association to be shown at their Most Powerful Voices event and concert. The video features 4 stroke survivors as they tell their stories about life after a stroke. The Most Powerful Voices event was held in Detroit and had hundreds of commmunity members attend to learn about stroke prevention and health awareness.
This video was created to promote the Oakland University and City of Pontiac partnership. It looks at why the initiative began and some of the great community work being done by university faculty and students to assist the city.
Shawn Ward is a 1998 OU Engineering and Computer Science alum. He now lives in New York City, where he and his brother founded the shoe company "Shane&Shawn" along with their consulting business, Boardroom Rockstars. I traveled to New York to spend an afternoon with him and talk about his OU experience and life in NYC.
I created this project Oakland University's student newspaper to graphically tell the story of an average day on campus between noon and 1 p.m. The staff counted how many times certain things happened within the hour, and I created this motion graphic from the data that was collected.
I created this 30 second video to promote Oakland University's elementary education program. Every few weeks throughout the 2014-15 year, a different program or event was featured as part of the university's digital marketing campaign. This is an example of one of a series of videos to promote specific majors.
The Detroit chapter of Engineers Without Borders reached out to me to help promote their water and sanitation project in Nicaragua. The group of engineers have traveled to the village of Laguna de Apoyo twice to assess the community's needs for a water source, and are now in the process of raising the funds to build a community well.
I filmed and edited this 2 minute OU commercial used for broadcast during the 2014-15 men's basketball season. The commercial ran during halftime, and was also used for other digital marketing efforts throughout the year including Detroit Tigers sponsorships and North American International Auto Show sponsorships.
This feature is about the founder of Oakland University's Communication and Theatre program. She worked there from 1966 until 1986, and then created an endowment for student scholarships. I spent an afternoon with her around her NYC neighborhood talking about OU's history and the importance of giving back.
